She created <strong>DOCday<\/strong> on <strong>Sundance Channel<\/strong> in 2002, and shepherded over 150 international and U.S. co-productions for public media at <strong>ITVS<\/strong>. More recently, she helped launch <strong>Al Jazeera America<\/strong> and the Sunday night documentary strand <strong>Al Jazeera America Presents<\/strong> with series (Kartemquin\u2019s <em>Hard Earned<\/em> \u2013 winner 2016 Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Awards) and documentaries (Albert Maysles\u2019 final work <em>In Transit<\/em>, Leon Gast\u2019s <em>Sporting Dreams<\/em>, Barbara Kopple\u2019s <em>Shelter<\/em>, Jennifer Maytorena Taylor\u2019s <em>Daisy and Max<\/em>, Michelle Shephard and Patrick Reed\u2019s <em>Guantanamo\u2019s Child<\/em>, Marc Levin\u2019s <em>Freeway: Crack in the System<\/em>, the last two recently nominated for Emmy awards).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">With UK partners GBGG Productions LLC (formed with Lisa Scott Gordon and John Warburton) and Les Film de l\u2019Apr\u00e8s Midi, Kane recently executive produced <em>New Eyes<\/em>, a short narrative film by Ethiopian filmmaker Hiwot Admasu Getaneh which screened at the Venice, Toronto and Rotterdam Film Festivals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former commissioning editor for documentary, Cynthia Kane helped transform the way global documentaries are seen on American television.
